Baby and Books (a storytime for little ones)

Laser Engraving Introduction at MPL

Participants will be introduced to the basics of design and how to operate the Laser Engraver. Participants will learn the how to design and how to laser their models. At the end of this hands-on workshop, participants will be certified to use the Laser Engraver independently.Please ensure you have a library card (Instructor can provide forms) to track certification. MakerClub

MakerClub encourages STEAM learning through hands-on, inquiry based activities. With the guidance of our specialized team of staff and community partners, participants will be able to learn various innovative concepts while making creative projects. These projects will include an introduction to some of our maker equipment such as 3D Printers, 3D Scanners, Laser Engraver, Digital Media Lab, and much more! MAKER volunteers will be recruited to assist. H&S certifications will be included in these meetups.

Older Adults: Knitting Club

Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting? Join the knitting club and enjoy a social and fun environment to work on projects of your choosing such as hats, socks or accessories, it's completely up to you! You can even crochet or needle point. Please note that this is a self-led program and participants are required to know how to knit or crochet, lessons will not be provided. Instead, the library will make printed templates available so participants can learn how to use different stitches and also different activity sheets for participants to use and work on independently. Basic tools and some materials will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own materials for their projects. Participants who wish to needlepoint should bring their own materials.

Markham offers quality recreational programs and courses, day camps, senior clubs, and drop-in classes in the areas of sports, fitness and wellness, swimming and aquatics, education and leisure, the arts, leadership and much more. There is something for all ages and abilities.

Recreation For All! Markham believes that municipal recreation opportunities should be available to all residents. If you are a Markham resident experiencing financial difficulty you may request a fee assistance application by contacting the Registration Team at 905-475-4731 or by email. Applications for assistance must be supported by a social service organization and a monthly income statement is required. Some restrictions apply.

Changes to program information may occur after a guide (i.e. the Magazine) has been printed. Please contact the Contact Centre via e-mail customerservice@markham.ca or call us at 905-475-4731. The Contact Centre is open regularly Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.

Registration Methods

There are four ways (below) to register for a recreational program with the City of Markham. EZ Reg (online registration) and Fast Track (telephone registration) are the fastest options and provide you with immediate confirmation.

  • EZ Reg (Online)
  • Fast Track (Telephone): call 905-475-4867 and follow the voice prompt instructions
  • Fax: fax completed program registration form to 905-479-7767 (any time prior to Drop Box deadline)
  • Mail or Drop Box: drop off completed registration form at one of the following locations:
    • Angus Glen C.C. - 3990 Major Mackenzie Dr.
    • Armadale C.C. - 2401 Denison C.C.
    • Centennial C.C. - 8600 McCowan Rd.
    • Cornell C.C. - 3201 Bur Oak Ave.

    • Thornhill C.C. - 7755 Bayview Ave.

Mail or Drop Box Registrations are processed at the Civic Centre. Registration forms are processed in a random order, so using the drop box does not guarantee a space in a program.

To register online or by phone you will need a client barcode and account PIN. If you do not have this information, call the Contact Centre at 905-475-4731 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
