Bronze Cross Standard First Aid CPR C

Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 600m swim. Standard First Aid / CPR C certifications are recognized by WSIB. Required materials are available for purchase at a community centre. ( Canadian First Aid Manual) Prerequisites: Emergency First Aid/CPR B and Bronze Medallion. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Service Award and Instructors Course. Exam date to be confirmed at the pool. Course Length: 31.5 hrs. Please note: Due to a revised safety standard, the diving skills in Learn to Swim levels 5 and higher will not be taught at the Frank McKechnie, River Grove, and South Common pools beginning with the Fall 2017 session.

Bronze Medallion Emergency FA CPR B

Candidate will learn rescue techniques, resuscitation and the history of the Lifesaving Society. The Emergency First Aid/CPR B provides technical knowledge and practical experience in rescue breathing, CPR and emergency care. Requried materials are available for purchase at a community centre. (Canadian Lifesaving Manual and Bronze Medallion Workbook). Exam date and time to be confirmed at the pool. Prerequisite: 13 years of age by the end of the course or hold Bronze Star award. Course Length: 27 hrs. Citi Swim Full Summer

Citi*Swim is a team oriented introduction to competitive swimming. It offers the opportunity to learn skills and improve fitness for youth. By belonging to a team, each person enjoys learning to swim faster by challenging themselves to improve personal best times in swim meets. Citi*Swim is based upon the values of fair play and allows each swimmer an opportunity to contribute to their team. The program includes stroke and skill improvement and physical training. Participants should be able to efficiently swim one length of the pool. Practices will be held 2-3 times per week for a total of three practice hours a week. Full Summer, Weekly, or two week registrations available. Please see pool schedules for dates.

Confirmation receipts will be mailed within 2 weeks or e-mailed immediately

Online registration for Fall and Winter programs begin August 15. In person registration available at recreation facilities and the Customer Service Centre beginning August 22.

Programs with low enrollment may be cancelled. Remember to register early.
