McKinney Centre

Whitby offers a variety of recreation programs that promote a healthy lifestyle and foster community connection. The Town's fitness, skating and swimming schedules offer active programs for all ages - from children and youth to adults and older adults - with year-round programs or short-term classes or drop-in, pick up sports and leagues are all available at Whitby's multi-purpose recreation facilities. You can sign up for a health club membership at the Whitby Civic Recreation Complex, join a Pilates, yoga or aquafit class or take a special-interest course. Birthday parties and camps are also offered for pre-school aged children up to teenagers.

Many of the Town's recreation programs are supported by organizations run by volunteers, such as Community Connection or subsidized programs that provide funding for Town of Whitby recreation programs for eligible residents.

Whitby's Activity Guide is a comprehensive source of information for fitness, sports, aquatics, recreational swimming and skating, and general interest programs for all ages. McKinney Centre features two hockey rinks plus a unique Figure Skating arena.  It's the home of year round precision skating and figure skating. The sunken ice surface of the figure skating arena offers a unique viewing experience as well as a premium sound system, and heated bleacher style seating for 300 people.
