Theatre Direct is an established, award-winning professional theatre dedicated to engaging young audiences through compelling, thought-provoking and sophisticated theatre. Education is at the core of our mission and is expressed through our work in schools and in the community

Our community based drama school strives to empower children and youth and instill a deeper appreciation of the power of creativity and imagination in themselves and their peers.

We offer a safe and nurturing environment in which students can explore their fullest potential as young artists. All classes and camps are led by professional theatre artists and guest artists working in dance, design and music.

Classes have narrow age ranges and flexible curriculum to ensure the most successful learning experience.

While our programs encourage the development of solid drama and theatre performance skills, we are not performance or production focused and do not audition or “cast”. We are process based and emphasize an inclusive, “ensemble” based approach in our teaching and creative work.

Drama School Mandate

• To empower the child through inclusive play
• To challenge the child and push their creative boundaries
• To develop the child’s capacity for play through drama that supports their entire social and intellectual development
• To inspire and nurture the artist in each child ready to interpret the world around them through art

General Program Information

• Saturday Morning Drama Club (Fall & Winter Sessions): Hour long classes for children ages JK – Grade 2
• Wednesday After-School Ensemble (October – March): 2 hour program from 4 PM – 6 PM for children ages 8 – 11 years
• Camps with Extended Care Option
• Winter Holiday Drama Camp (April 6–10): ages 6 – 9
• Wee Drama Spring Camp (April 6–10): ages 3 - 5
• Drama Spring Camp: ages 5 - 7

Each camper will experience the full range of theatre elements including drama, movement/dance, music  and design as they learn, create and cooperate together towards a performance at the end of the week!

All of our camps are led by Theatre Direct’s team of artist teachers and guest artists in movement, music and design. Campers are further supported by mature, well-trained and positive counselors.

• July 6 – 10: Ages 3.5 – 5, best for children Pre-K to K; Half Day or Full Day
• August 4 – 7: Ages 3.5 – 5 *4 Day Camp*, best for children Pre-K to K; Half Day or Full Day
• July 13 – 17: Ages 6 – 7, best for children entering SK – Grade 1; Full Day
• July 20 – 24: Ages 8 – 10, best for children Grade 2+; Full Day
• July 27 – August 7: Ages 9 – 11, best for children Grade 4+; Full Day
• August 10 – 14: Ages 8 – 10, best for children Grade 2+; Full Day
