Web Design-Beginner

For those new to web design, this course teaches the planning and development of well-designed websites combining effective navigation with appropriate use of graphics, images, type/text, and colour. Learners get introduced to HTML, CSS, basic Photoshop features needed for web graphics and Adobe Dreamweaver to quickly create and manage websites while maintaining control over the HTML. Lifesaving & Swim Instructor

This course prepares individuals to organize, plan, teach and evaluate basic swim strokes, lifesaving skills, first aid skills, resuscitation techniques and related skills. Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. Swim Instructors teach candidates in all levels of the Swim for Life® program. Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructors teach the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Programs and Emergency First Aid. This program teaches participants to integrate the 5 principles into program planning, conflict resolution and creating a safe environment. Mandatory manual is required. Assistant Swim Instructor

Assistant Instructor Course prepares candidates to help certified instructors with swimming and lifesaving classes. The course provides an introduction to swimming instruction and some of the key competencies required in successful teaching. Candidates are introduced to key principles of learning and teaching, and they master basic progressions. The roles and responsibilities of instructors and their assistants are emphasized. 100 per cent participation encouraged. Prerequisites: a minimum of 14 years as of the last day of the course, and Bronze Cross (or higher) certification(need not be current). Course Length: 15 hrs. Please note: Due to a revised safety standard, the diving skills in Learn to Swim levels 5 and higher will not be taught at the Frank McKechnie, River Grove, and South Common pools beginning with the Fall 2017 session.
