We offer early learning and child care on a full-time, part-time and respite basis for children aged 18 months to 12 years. Mothercraft Ottawa programs are provided in a centre, in a school or in a caregiver’s home during the school year and throughout the summer.

The licensee shall ensure that the Licensing Inspection Summary is posted in a conspicuous place in the child care centre at or near an entrance commonly used by parents. The licensee shall ensure that the completed Licensing Checklist and the Summary of Licensing Requirements and Recommendations sheets are readily available for parents. The licensee shall ensure that the total licensed capacity is not exceeded at any time. |
The operator shall ensure that children under the age of 5 years do not use the playground equipment in the school yard as indicated on the user age label of the play structures. |
A maximum of 64 children may be in the daycare kindergarten playground at any given time. The operator shall ensure that the children are using the school kindergarten playground or the school yard in addition to the daycare kindergaten playground when all kindergaten children are outside at the same time. |

All rooms as set out in the shared space confirmation are approved for use by the child care program, based on licensed capacity, provided that the room or area is used by the school for children who are the same age as the age category of the licensed age group. The operator is required to keep on file at the premises an up-to-date shared space confirmation. This confirmation must include the primary use of the room during the school day and must be made available to Ministry of Education staff upon request. |
Guidelines and sample menus for preparing bag lunches/snacks which meet the recommendations set out in the Health Canada documents “Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide” OR “Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide – First Nations, Inuit and Métis”, as well as procedures for refrigeration or the use of ice packs with bag lunches, shall be provided to each parent and posted at the centre. The operator shall review this information with parents at the time of enrolment and the information shall be included in the centre’s parent handbook. The centre shall ensure back-up procedures are in place if a bag lunch/snack is forgotten. |
The preschool children shall not use the kindergarten playground structure until the licensee receives a third party certified playground safety inspector’s written verification the surfacing and permanent play structure meet CSA standards. The inspector’s written confirmation of CSA compliance must be submitted to the ministry prior to the use of the permanent play structure. |
