The Town of Richmond Hill (the Recreation & Culture Division of Community Services Department) provides residents with a wide variety of affordable and accessible arts, culture and recreational opportunities. These programs can help participants get fit, be active and have fun, while reducing stress levels and providing options to learn new things and to get creative. Participating in recreational activities in Richmond Hill brings the community closer together and helps improve the  quality of life of residents.

Oak Ridges Community Centre, Pool & Fitness Studio

The Oak Ridges Community Centre offers a wide-variety of recreation and leisure opportunities for Richmond Hill residents. The Oak Ridges Community Centre is a landmark facility within an integrated site and a leading edge example of environmental sustainability. The building design provides support to and complements the ecologically sensitive park design. Building design and operations recognize LEED initiatives and received a Silver LEED Certification. The community centre is located in an area for visitors to enjoy dramatic views of Lake Wilcox, while the architecture provides a sensitive visual amenity within the waterfront setting.

The 56,000-square foot Oak Ridges Community Centre has the following amenities:

  • Six-lane leisure pool, including a slide component, a separate teaching tank and change rooms
  • Oak Ridges Moraine Eco Centre, providing educational programs and activities related to the environment and the Oak Ridges Moraine
  • Fitness studio and aerobics studio
  • Gymnasium (7,000 sq. ft.)
  • Kitchen
  • Two General Program rooms
  • Seniors'/Youth Program room
