Durham’s Only Traditional Outdoor Day Camp

Camp Riverwood, located in Pickering, Ontario, is an outdoor summer day camp committed to providing children ages 4-14 with a safe and fun summer experience.

  • Located at Petticoat Creek Conservation Area
  • Choose from one of our four camps; Traditional Camp, Sports Camp, Arts & Science Camp, or our Leadership Training Program.
  • Daily busing is included from The Beaches, West Hill, Scarborough, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Brooklin, and Oshawa.
  • Daily onsite recreational swimming
  • Variety of unique optional specialty programs; tumbling and trampoline, golf, space exploration, horseback riding, cheerleading, tennis and more

  • Variety of activities each day including sports, arts, science, and outdoor adventures
  • Daily Recreational Swim at our onsite aquatic facility
  • Special event programs throughout the summer including overnights and extended nights
  • Opportunity to participate in our half-day Optional Specialty Programs
  • Campers in our Mustang Unit (completing Grades 5, 6, and 7) and in our Leadership Training Program have the opportunity to participate in a two-day, one night overnight in August at our sister camp, Camp Green Acres in Markham.

Leadership Training Program

  • LTPs are students currently in Grade 8 and Grade 9.
  • Two week program session
  • Prepares participants for leadership roles both at camp and in their communities.
  • LTP’s rotate within different placements at camp.
  • Two day, one night trip to our sister camp in Markham, Camp Green Acres
  • Placements in cabin groups and specialty programs
  • LTPs will receive ongoing informal evaluations throughout their placements and will receive a formal evaluation from their Co-ordinator.
  • LTPs will participate in leadership training and workshops.
  • Have the opportunity to earn High School Community Service Hours
  • Upon successful completion of the LTP program, they will receive an invitation to return as a staff member to Riverwood
  • Make lifelong friends and memories
