Leader In Training Level 1-Winter

The Leader In Training Level 1 course will help develop leadership skills for youth interested in working in the field of recreation and provides training in the following: leadership and programming of children's activities, inclusion, promoting positive behaviour, communication skills, and instructional techniques for leading arts, crafts and games. PREREQUISITE: PHCD course Priciples of Healthy Child Development. Level 1 consists of three days of in class training followed by one week of full day (8hrs) in camp placement, at one of the March Break Camp programs. In Class dates for Level 1 take place Feb 17, Feb 24 & Mar 3 at the Mississauga Central Library in Class Room 3. The corresponding practical dates are March 12-16 at the assigned placement location.

Aquatic Supervisor Training

In order to take this course a person must have worked at least 100 hours as an instructor or lifeguard, hold an NLS and have a written recommendation from their supervisor. Mandatory manual is required. ( Guide to Ontario Public Pools Regulation ). You must purchase the manual at the community centre front desk. Course Length: 12 hrs.

Sauga Leaders At Play

Have you enjoyed being a participant in the Sauga At Play program and want to take it further? Develop your leadership skills in this interactive program. Participants will spend 22 hours in class on practical content (customer service, activity programming, communication, professionalism, team building and first aid) and will be required to complete 40 volunteer hours assisting with the drop in program (eligible for school requirements). Youth must be a past Sauga At Play participant and/or have an understanding of the program. Space is limited and registration is first come, first served. .

Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
(ground floor at the Mississauga Central Library)

Your local major community centre
(hours vary by location)

Confirmation receipts will be mailed within 2 weeks or e-mailed immediately

Online registration for Fall and Winter programs begin August 15. In person registration available at recreation facilities and the Customer Service Centre beginning August 22.

Programs with low enrollment may be cancelled. Remember to register early.
