Bronze Cross Standard First Aid CPR C - Female

This program is for Female candidates. Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 600m swim. Standard First Aid / CPR C certifications are recognized by WSIB. Required materials are available for purchase at a community centre. ( Canadian First Aid Manual) Prerequisites: Emergency First Aid/CPR B and Bronze Medallion. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Service Award and Instructors Course. Exam date to be confirmed at the pool. Course Length : 31.5 hrs. Please note: Due to a revised safety standard, the diving skills in Learn to Swim levels 5 and higher will not be taught at the Frank McKechnie, River Grove, and South Common pools beginning with the Fall 2017 session.

CALA Instructor Group Aqua Fitness

This course is offered in partnership with CALA. Part Two: Group Aqua Fitness. This course will expand on the movement bank, fine tune your group teaching skills, and give you lots of practical experience to help prepare you for teaching group recreational aqua fitness classes. Course fee includes all course materials and certification opportunities. Membership with CALA must be current to take this course. If your membership requires renewal this will be included in the course fee. CALA membership will be verified with the CALA office prior to the course. Prerequisite: CALA Vertical Water Training. Aquatic Supervisor Training

In order to take this course a person must have worked at least 100 hours as an instructor or lifeguard, hold an NLS and have a written recommendation from their supervisor. Mandatory manual is required. ( Guide to Ontario Public Pools Regulation ). You must purchase the manual at the community centre front desk. Course Length: 12 hrs.

(hours vary by location)

Confirmation receipts will be mailed within 2 weeks or e-mailed immediately

Online registration for Fall and Winter programs begin August 15. In person registration available at recreation facilities and the Customer Service Centre beginning August 22.

Programs with low enrollment may be cancelled. Remember to register early.
